A good day

Today has been a good day. I am starting to feel better and move around better since my c-section. Also, we went back to see Colt after the anesthesia wore off.He was more alert than we've ever seen him. Since we can't be with him all the time, we don't get to see those certain faces or noises he makes. We've never even changed his diaper. The nurses have been great at telling us little cute things that he does and funny noises he'll make. I really appreciate the nurses in the NICU because they're helping me not miss out on so many things. The nurse also said he had been pooping alot. She had to keep changing his diaper. She said that was a very good sign. The whole blockage could've been that the merconium (the tar like poop that babies have when they are first born). Sometimes the poop is so tarry that it blocks the intestine. So this morning they did this irrigation thing that was supposed to help cleanse him. Well, it's working cause he's pooped alot today. So we're not getting out hopes up. HE could still have this Hirschsprungs disease and if he does, we'll deal with it. But it would be wonderful if he doesn't have it. We would be able to take him home. We still won't take him home with us tomorrow either way. If he doesn't have the disease, they will still keep him for a few days to see how well he eats and digests it. So alot of things will be decided tomorrow. I hope they dont wait all day to contact us. We're gonna stay at the hospital as long as we can tomorrow. I think we have to be out by midnight. So please, please, please everyone say your prayers tonight that he will be disease free and we can take our precious boy home very soon! Here's a few more pictures from today.

Past the first hurdle

Colt had a biopsy this morning. I was nervous about him being put to sleep. He came out of it great. He's still sleeping right now but the DR. and anesthesiologist assured us that he did great and they got what they needed to diagnose the problem. The Dr. said that the best case senerio would be the biopsy came back normal and this blockage was just some fluke. But if it comes back missing the cells that are supposed to be there, then they'll diagnose him with Hircshsprungs disease. At that point they would make a plan for him. The Dr. said he likes to send the baby home and teach us how to use an irrigation system to keep him cleaned out for the next few months until surgery. They won't do surgery right away unless the enlarged colon makes him sick. Right now he's not sick and doing fine so the Dr. thinks he'll just send him home which would be great. So we won't know the results until tomorrow. So we could possibly bring him home this weekend! The irrigation should help get his colon back to normal size and then they would be able to do the surgery. So, I hope I haven't confused everyone. We're thankful that we have to many friends and family that are lifting our precious child up to God in prayer. Please continue to pray for us and pray that the results from the biopsy come back normal so we can take him home and not have to have surgery.

Day 2 in the NICU

Well we got through our first night without our little guy. It was very difficult to be away from him but we know that he is being well taken care of. So I know there's alot of people who are wondering what is going on with him and what we have found out. So instead of having to tell everyone every time we have some news, I thought I would update this more often. So this morning we went over there and they had just taken him to give him a barium enema. We thought we would find out today if it's the Hirschprungs disease but the enema was just another step to get them closer to diagnosing Hirschprungs Disease. So with the enema, they still think that's what it is but now to find out for sure they have to do a biopsy of the obstructed segment in his colon. They could either use a rectum gun or I believe do a colonoscopy. We were hoping they would to the rectum gun since that would not require anesthesia but they don't have one here and couldn't locate it. So first we were told either 8 or 9:30 in the morning. The surgeon will come talk to us and have us sign consents and then they will do the biopsy. I'm very anxious to talk to the surgeon so maybe some of our questions can be answered. We just went to see him. The Dr. called when I was in there. They might even do the biopsy tonight. WE'll just have to wait and see. He looks so different than what he looked like yesterday. His color is a little better. His skin isn't blotchy anymore. He's just perfect! So I took some more pictures today. We took pictures of his hands and feet. They're so big! So continue to keep us in your prayers

Colton is here

Well Colt finally decided to make his appearance in this world on Sept 8th weighing in at 9lbs 10oz. He was a big boy. He didn't want to come out. So they did a c-section. He is perfect of course. He's beautiful. He looks like his daddy and also his daddy's daddy. They all couldn't believe how big he was. The Dr. was glad she didn't make me try to push. So that's all the great news. We got some news yesterday that he might have to have surgery. He isn't pooping or keeping anything down. So they did an x-ray and found a blockage in his colon. So they're doing another test this morning and it will tell them for sure if it is what they think it is. If it's this particular disease they think it might be, then he'll have surgery to fix the problem and he will be fine. It was very difficult letting them take him to the NICU after we only had a day with him. But I know God is in control and He knows more than me. Colt is being a trooper. Every time we've gone down there, he's just so content and I'm sure has no idea anything is going on. It's probably harder for mom and dad to see him this way. So please say an extra prayer for the Craft family as we get past this hurdle in our life.

He's almost here!!

Monday will be the big day unless he comes before then. I've almost made it all the way to the end. There have been days when I thought there's no way I can make it another day but here I am. I can't believe in 3 days I'm gonna have a baby. It still seems so unreal. My last Dr. update went well. She estimated his weight still being around 7lbs11oz. We'll see how accurate she is on Monday! I was at school yesterday for 11 hours trying to get everything ready for my sub. I feel sorry for her because I have some children in my class that are really hard to handle. But I'm sure she'll be fine. She might be wanting to pull her hair out by the time I come back. I will miss the kids but I'm so excited to be home for 7 weeks with my precious little baby. I can't wait! So I'm posting some pictures from the last few weekends. There are some from 3 weeks ago when Jared and I went on what we thought might be our "last" date for a while. But we've ended up going out alot since then. We just didn't know when Colt was going to make his appearance so every time we've gone out, we thought it might be our last for a while. Then there are some from labor day. We went to Jared's sisters house. I can't believe how huge I look in the picture! This will probably be the last picture I take before I have him.

Our "last" date (not really)

This is our cousin Sara. She's really excited to meet Colt on Monday

Isn't this the sweetest picture

They were trying to take a picture to compare out bellies but someone (I won't say who) was trying to suck in...

I'm about to meet my 22 babies for the year

So school starts in 4 days. I can't believe it's already here. I've been working so much gettting my classroom ready and lesson plans ready (which aren't ready yet). I have 2 more days to be at school to be ready. Organization is my weakness. I need someone that is really organized to come in and help me! Everytime I leave, I wonder if I'll be back (or out having a baby for 6 wks). So I try to leave my room as ready as possible. Hopefully it will be alot better on Saturday when I leave. So far I have 21 kids but I'm sure it will be at least 22 by the time those last minute kids enroll. I'm so excited and nervous. I know it will be a year full of excitment. Please keep me in your prayers as I start this year off being a teacher for the first time.

As for our little man that I'm carrying.... he's doing good. Getting really big. The Dr. estimated his weight yesterday. She said right now he's about 7lbs11oz. So I hope she's not right and the estimate is off a little. Cause I still have at least 2 wks to carry him! Next week she'll check to see if I'm anywhere near ready to have him. If my body seems ready, then she'll induce me a wk or so early. I asked her if she was gonna let me have a 10 pound baby. She just laughed! I dont think she realized I was serious!

There's so many new and exciting things going on in our life right now. We really need prayers for patience and strength to get through .... well i guess the next 18 years! lol
